Stewardship at Ascension

The strength of our community is its foundation of strong participation and stewardship of the entire Ascension family. As a tithing school, we are blessed by both the spiritual and financial support of the church ensuring our students receive a strong academic and faith-filled education. ACS families are expected to be active in the Ascension Parish. This includes:

  • Practicing the Catholic faith and living Catholic values.
  • Sharing in the prayer life of the Parish through weekly participation in the Mass and Holy Days of Obligation.
  • Supporting the life and mission of the Parish through acts of service by volunteering and assisting.

Church of the Ascension parishioners/families are encouraged to make and honor a sacrificial pledge to God of at least 10% of their household gross income in gratitude for the blessings they have received via the following guidelines:

  • 5% to our Parish as general Parish support
  • 1% to Archdiocesan support
  • 4% to other charitable causes or our Parish
    • *Note: School families are encouraged to consider this additional 4% be given to our Parish in support of our ministry of educating youth.
  •

Current families must have an annual stewardship appeal card and a current time and talent commitment form on file with the parish office.

New families need to give evidence of their past and current commitment to stewardship of time, talent, and treasure. Those failing to do so will not be considered steward families.

The order of priority for student enrollment is as follows:

  • Current students of steward families
  • Current students who are not parish members paying tuition
  • Siblings of current students from steward families
  • Siblings of current students who are not parish members
  • New students ranked according to the following:
    • Length of membership in the parish and history of parish stewardship
    • Newer parish families with evidence of active participation and financial support from previous parish
    • Longer term parishioners with little evidence of parish stewardship but who are committed to becoming parish stewards
    • Non-parish Catholic families who commit to pay tuition
    • Families who are not Catholic who commit to pay tuition

An effort on the part of all is essential to the viability of our parish and its ministries. Enrolled families are expected to maintain their stewardship to retain priority for future enrollment.
